Winnipeg Saints
The Winnipeg Saints are a Manitoba Junior Hockey League team playing out of the St. James Civic Centre. They played out of Dakota Community Centre in Winnipeg until the end of 2009-10 season. The team played out of St. Adolphe during the 2010-11 season, but played their home playoff games at the MTS Iceplex in Headingley. The Saints will return to Winnipeg and play out of the St. James Civic Centre for the 2011-12 season.[1]
The Winnipeg Saints won 3 Turnbull Cup Championships as Manitoba Junior ‘A’ Champions, 1971, 1981, & 1994, and the Anavet Cup in 1971.
During the summer of 1967, a community-minded sports group purchased the Winnipeg Rangers from Ben Hatskin, renaming them the St. Boniface Saints. It has since then been changed to the Winnipeg Saints
